Inspiring Future Sonographers: Recap of VUC’s Ultrasound Talk at USM Health Campus

Earlier this month, Vision University College (VUC) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) jointly organised a talk session on the Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasonography, aimed at guiding students toward specialised career pathways in healthcare.

The session featured Dato’ Dr. Nik Najib Bin Nik Abdul Rahman, Head of Corporate Communication at VUC, alongside Puan Nur Illyuni Hayati, a 2023 VUC alumna and the only certified sonographer currently practising in Kelantan. Their combined expertise offered both academic perspective and real-world insight into the field of ultrasonography.

Final-year students from USM’s Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Medical Radiation programmes attended the session, gaining valuable exposure as they prepare to enter the workforce. In his address, Dato’ Dr. Nik Najib encouraged students to stay confident in their chosen fields and highlighted the increasing demand for skilled healthcare professionals. He also emphasised the importance of continuous learning in building a sustainable and impactful career.

Complementing this, Puan Nur Illyuni Hayati shared her journey as a sonographer, providing students with a clearer understanding of the profession’s responsibilities and opportunities. She highlighted the role of diagnostic imaging in patient care and stressed the value of pursuing further qualifications to enhance expertise and career growth.

The session successfully bridged academic learning with industry expectations, offering students both inspiration and practical knowledge. It reinforced the importance of lifelong learning and specialisation in today’s evolving healthcare landscape.

Overall, the collaboration between VUC and USM reflects a shared commitment to nurturing future-ready healthcare professionals, equipping them with the confidence and direction needed to excel in their careers.
