As part of the GHC 6023 Philosophy: Human Person course, students from Vision University College recently conducted a community engagement visit to Multi Care Nursing Home in Petaling Jaya. The visit provided students with a meaningful opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience the values of empathy, compassion, and human dignity through direct interaction with the elderly community.
Throughout the visit, students engaged with residents and healthcare staff while learning about the importance of elderly care and the vital role nursing homes play in supporting the physical, emotional, and social well-being of older adults. By observing the daily routines and services provided at the facility, students gained valuable insights into the realities of long-term care and the dedication required of healthcare professionals and caregivers.
The programme encouraged students to reflect on key philosophical concepts explored in the GHC 6023 Philosophy: Human Person course, including the value of every individual, respect for human dignity, and the importance of compassion in building meaningful relationships. Beyond academic learning, the experience strengthened students’ emotional awareness, communication skills, and sense of social responsibility while fostering a greater appreciation for the lives and experiences of senior citizens.
More importantly, the visit reminded students that genuine compassion is demonstrated through simple acts of kindness, attentive listening, and meaningful human connection. These experiences continue to shape students into individuals who are not only knowledgeable in their chosen fields but also committed to serving the community with empathy and integrity.
Vision University College extends its sincere appreciation to the management and staff of Multi Care Nursing Home for their warm hospitality and for providing our students with an enriching learning experience. Through initiatives like these, Vision University College remains committed to nurturing graduates who are academically competent, socially responsible, and dedicated to making a positive impact on society.
