The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly evident in our daily lives, transforming the way we learn, work, and communicate. In the academic setting, AI has emerged as a powerful tool that can support students in enhancing their learning experience and improving their academic performance—provided it is used responsibly and effectively.
Recognizing the growing relevance of AI in education, Vision University College (VUC) was honored to host an insightful sharing session led by our esteemed Chief Executive and Member of the Board of Governors, Professor Emeritus Dr. Hamzah A. Rahman. In his session, Professor Emeritus Dr. Hamzah A. Rahman shared valuable perspectives on how students can strategically leverage AI to “level up” their study game while maintaining strong academic principles.

Throughout the talk, a wide range of AI-related topics were discussed. Among them were AI etiquette, the responsible use of generative AI, and practical ways AI tools can assist students in their studies. Participants learned how AI can help generate practice quizzes, draft structured study plans, summarize lengthy notes, and even break down complex topics into more digestible explanations. These applications demonstrated how AI can serve as a supportive learning companion when used thoughtfully.
One of the key takeaways from the session was the importance of AI etiquette and critical awareness. Professor Emeritus Dr. Hamzah emphasized that while AI tools are highly useful, they are not infallible. Information generated by AI may contain inaccuracies, outdated data, or incomplete interpretations. Therefore, human judgment, fact-checking, and critical thinking remain essential components of the learning process. Students were reminded that reliance on AI without verification could compromise both understanding and academic integrity.

He also highlighted how generative AI can make exam preparation more manageable, particularly when time is limited. By creating structured study schedules, summarizing core concepts, and generating revision questions, AI can help students organize their preparation more efficiently. However, he stressed a crucial principle: “AI is a study partner, not a shortcut — academic integrity is non-negotiable.” This statement resonated strongly with participants, reinforcing the idea that AI should enhance learning rather than replace genuine effort and original thinking.
Following the talk, Professor Emeritus Dr. Hamzah conducted an interactive activity where students were encouraged to use AI tools to develop personalized study plans. This hands-on session allowed participants to experience in real time how AI can assist them in structuring their revision strategies. The activity fostered active engagement and gave students practical insight into using AI as a collaborative learning partner.

Overall, the sharing session enabled participants to view AI from a more informed and balanced perspective. It not only showcased the practical benefits of AI in academic settings but also underscored the importance of ethical responsibility and independent judgment. Vision University College remains committed to providing meaningful and forward-thinking initiatives, and looks forward to organizing more insightful sessions that empower students to thrive in an evolving digital landscape.
