Research Excellence with AKAT: Academic Sharing Session

Research Excellence with AKAT: Academic Sharing Session

During the end of last month, Vision University College (VUC) successfully organized an engaging academic sharing session focusing on the Advance Knowledge Analytical Tool (AKAT). The session brought together academic staff, researchers, and postgraduate students who were eager to explore how emerging analytical tools can enhance the quality, rigor, and impact of scholarly work. The event formed part of VUC’s continuous effort to promote research excellence and innovation within the academic community.

The highlight of the session was a presentation by our esteemed Chairman of the Board of Governors, YBhg Tan Sri Emeritus Professor Dr Ghauth Jasmon, who introduced AKAT to participants in a comprehensive and accessible manner. Drawing from his extensive experience in higher education leadership and research development, he explained the conceptual foundations behind AKAT and its intended role as a structured analytical support tool for academic inquiry. His presentation emphasized that AKAT is designed not to replace researchers, but to strengthen their analytical capabilities by organizing information, identifying patterns, and supporting evidence-based reasoning.

During the session, participants were guided through the practical applications of AKAT in academic research. The tool was presented as a framework that can assist in synthesizing literature, structuring research problems, analyzing datasets, and generating meaningful insights across disciplines. Whether applied in quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method studies, AKAT was described as a system that enhances clarity, coherence, and methodological rigor. Examples were shared to illustrate how researchers can use AKAT to streamline data interpretation, improve conceptual mapping, and support systematic decision-making throughout the research process.

Importantly, YBhg Tan Sri Emeritus Professor Dr Ghauth Jasmon underscored the ethical dimension of using analytical tools in academia. He stressed that while AKAT can significantly support research activities, it must always be guided by human academic judgment, critical thinking, and scholarly integrity. Participants were reminded that analytical tools should complement—not substitute—the intellectual responsibility of researchers. Upholding originality, transparency, and ethical standards remains paramount in any research endeavour, regardless of the technological assistance involved.

The sharing session concluded with an interactive discussion, where participants reflected on how AKAT could be integrated into their own research practices. The event not only introduced a promising analytical framework but also reinforced VUC’s commitment to responsible innovation in academic research. Through initiatives such as this, Vision University College continues to foster a research culture that balances technological advancement with sound academic values.
