Final-semester students from the Diploma in Law Enforcement at Vision University College brought forensic learning beyond the classroom with an interactive educational booth during College Activity Week (CAW) 2026.
The booth introduced visitors to fingerprint identification and crime scene evidence handling, giving students an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge through practical activities and conversations with the campus community.
Exploring Fingerprint Patterns
Visitors were introduced to three types of human fingerprint patterns: loop, whorl and arch. The students explained these patterns and invited visitors to identify their own, turning the display into a hands-on learning experience.
This interactive approach helped visitors connect the information on display with something familiar—their own fingerprints—while learning about the role of fingerprint analysis in investigation and law enforcement.
Demonstrating Evidence Handling
The students also demonstrated techniques for lifting and collecting fingerprints from objects commonly encountered as crime scene evidence. The demonstration offered an introduction to the practical work involved in fingerprint collection and showed how classroom knowledge can be applied in a simulated investigative setting.
Learning Through Student-Led Activities
As part of the educational booths at CAW 2026, the activity gave final-semester students a platform to share their learning with others. Explaining concepts and demonstrating techniques provided opportunities to practise communication, teamwork and presentation skills alongside their subject knowledge.
The booth reflected Vision University College’s emphasis on hands-on learning and practical demonstrations. It also showed how campus activities can create opportunities for students from different courses to discover one another’s fields of study.
